My Take: Pray for Zamboanga City

I don’t watch the news lately. I was super busy with reports to be passed when I read in facebook about the hash tag #PrayforZamboanga. It was from my blogger friend who lives there. It was not a normal hash tag. I researched on Yahoo and watched the news when I got home. I am stunned. The Moro National Liberation Front led by Nur Misuari is attacking Zamboanga City. According to the news, there are already 180 hostages. Many are wounded in the side of the soldiers and the MNLF. The government is trying to negotiate through formal and non formal channels according to DILG Secretary Mar Roxas.

I feel so sorry for the victims in this attack. The civilians of the area once again are filled with fear their hearts. There peaceful life has been shaken. I saw how the people living there panic buying on food and read their experiences. It was so traumatic. Some are saying they don’t even go out anymore.

The government needs to have a concrete blueprint on how to obtain peace in some parts of Mindanao because the more they delay it, the more lives will be at stake. I believe, contrary to what P-Noy says, State of Emergency is needed.

I join the millions of people praying for Zamboanga City. They really need our prayers. They need our Spiritual support. Dear God, spare the people of Zamboanga City. Protect and guide them. Touch the hearts of the MNLF to stop the war and let peace grow in their hearts.

Hey there Basketball fans!

This is the updated standings for the competing teams in the UAAP! After the first round match up, NU Bulldogs gear up their offense and defense passing the FEU Tamaraws as the top in the team standings. The number one FEU Tamaraws is now at second. A sorry loss at overtime is heartbreaking as well as their back to back loss made them only in the second spot. The Jeron Teng lead team is at third. The last year's second runner up is up fourth while their finals opponent Ateneo Blue Eagles is at 5th Place. Sixth, seventh and Eight  in the standings are as follows UE Red Warriors, Adamson Falcons and the win less UP Maroons.

The heat is on, the final minute is ticking, who will be in the final four?

Food Trip: Mandarin Café Moments

I am a big fan of food! It is one of my guilty pleasures in life. I have been joked before by my officemates that it never happened to me that I didn’t like the food I am eating. That’s not true, I have eaten a lot of food that I didn’t like but the difference is I never voice it out. I’m too shy of saying it become I am not so good in cooking- one of my weaknesses.

When my friend and I went to Cagayan de Oro City, one of our agenda is to EAT! Yep, we love to eat that’s why. Our plan is to dine in to KFC directly but we saw a very interesting restaurant-Mandarin Café. It was what my co-worker is bragging about. We were not interested at it at first but when we saw it personally. We love the ambiance. It was cool. We look so funny at that moment because we don’t know what to order. It serves Chinese cuisine and we do not know anything about Chinese cuisine. We did not order right away. We were just laughing about ourselves and we end up ordering adobo rice toppings, mango shake and halo-halo. It was a sumptuous lunch. We were able to satisfy our food craving! There adobo topping is very yummy. A bowl of it justifies its price. We also love the mango shake and halo-halo. It deserves all the good reviews of it. Many patronize it obviously because of the number of diners.

My Beauty Must Haves

Today’s blog post is all about beauty. Yep, I’m talking about beauty, I don’t know if I have one, hahaha. Kidding aside, I woke today feeling really fine. Each of us has different products that our skin loves. It may be affordable to expensive ones. As, for me, I don’t care about the price as long as it has an impact on my skin or also known as in tagalong as “hiyang”. I’ll come buying this product and stock it.

I really love this product, specially the little beads in it. It makes my face very soft and smooth. It also has a glowing effect when used with the cream. I love that it also cleans my face. I don’t have any white and black heads. And take note, I don’t get pimples even though I don’t wash my face at night. It has a good smells and delicate to my skin. It does not cause itching at all. I’ve been using this for six months and loving it.

Asian Secrets Lulur Indonesian Whitening Body Scrub

This product was recommended by a friend of mine, first I was hesitant because for me, it is too expensive (I’m very kuripot that time). Then I proceed to trying the product. I bought one in Watsons. When I tried it, I love the effect in my skin. It removes the dead skin cells in my skin. After I washed it, my skin becomes smooth and soft instantly. Not to mention it also last for the whole day.

Nivea Extra Whitening Cell Repair Protect Body Milk

This product for me is economical. I only need a very little amount of it and it does wonders. It has 50x vitamin C. It claims strengthening the skin to reveal extra fair skin tone and it’s true. I really love the smell of this product-very fruity and long lasting.

Dove Damage Therapy in Smooth and Silky

This is my hair’s best friend. Sweet smell that lasts long. It is very creamy. It does wonders in my hair. It gives my hair  strong strand. It is very easy to manage and I don’t need a comb anymore.

Yep, those are my beauty must haves! They are my savior when I’m having a bad day. The secret to my confidence booster.

Month in Flashback: August

There are months that fate is in our side, as if the universe connives to grant all our wishes. There are months that we choose to forget, look ahead for the next month to come. The month of August is a very bitter but sweet journey. It is as if I want to hasten time. Every day, I keep on praying that this month will pass. I know it’s a very dumb to do. I also realize that, so I live with it day by day. When my friends ask me about this August, I would rather keep quiet and make a face. But as I write now, I realize that August has given a lot of opportunities and growth. It’s just only today that I realize it. Flashback starts now:

Cagayan de Oro City

I was able to go back to the Land of Golden Friendship after one year. I never realize that, time flies fast. And CDO is still highly urbanized. My friend and I plan to go back every month.

Business is Good

Yes, I ventured into business. The truth is, it is only my side line and it gives me a positive cash flow. We sell silver accessories! (I’ll be blogging about it soon). Many men and women from all walks of life patronize it. It started as a simple joke but it is very fast growing. Orders keep on coming!

KFC plus Mandarin Café

 Yep, I love food tripping. It gives me a taste of what life has to offer. I was able to dine for the first time in Mandarin Café and KFC. We bump with Mandarin Café by chance. Since we were hungry, we tried to it. And their food is amazing! Super delicious! KFC is my dream. I keep on imagining myself tasting it. And my palate is granted. Love the food!

Shopping is Fun

When I travel, I always buy something to have a remembrance. I become extravagant. I was able to buy a pair of havaianas! Oh my, I don’t know why I bought it. It maybe is the power of the credit card but I’m glad I give in. it is very comfy and chic. I was able to buy as well a penshoppe blouse. The moment I laid an eye on it, I already know it will be mine. Gibi shoes, bny top and pants, flamingo sandals are the few stuff I was able to put in my cart this month. Take note: they are on sale!

That’s it! I don’t want to elaborate to you the bitter side of the month. It is horrible but I’m glad that God really moves. In my downfall, God picks me up and put up the pieces and reminded me of my lifetime verse, Jeremiah 29:11. Indeed, the month of August made me realize that in up and down moment. God is faithful. He sees us, and he is ready to rescue us. Ciao!

My Take: Pork Barrel Scam

I saw all over the news about the pork barrel scam. At first, I was not at all interested about it. It’s another corruption issue that was discovered then like what happened in the past, it will lie low then another issue will come out leaving the other unsolved. Best examples here are Maguindanao Massacre, election fraud and the Arroyo administration’s so called anomalies.

They were high profile issues but no one is convicted yet. I doubt if there will be one soon. So I tell myself I pass with this. But when I realize that we are talking is the massive corruption. A 10 billion pork barrel scam and we are talking about tax here! It is a big portion of our salary that was given to the government to finance their projects. It is the 12% in the goods that we purchased. Regardless of how big or small the taxes we paid, we still deserve to be given back and not the few people who don’t deserve it!

There people should be convicted. Justice must be served. An in depth investigation should take place. I still don’t lose hope in the justice system of the Philippines. I hope that Janet Lim Napoles will not shut up her mouth. I hope that she tells it all what she knows and who are the people she connives with. Making a foundation will not be executed by only one person; she has her allies with her. The question is who they are? She can only tell.

  I don’t convict Janet Napoles here. I still believe that she is “innocent until proven guilty”. It’s a protocol but I think she owes to the public an explanation, who is the people who keeps sending death threats. I join the millions of Filipinos who screams for JUSTICE. I may not be in the march but I definitely support its cause. Abolish PDAF! Give the citizen what we deserve.
