Wednesday Fitness: 38th Milo Marathon

This is a very late post; nevertheless I want to write about it. The Butuan leg of Milo marathon was held last October 19, 2014. It was a successful event wherein thousands of runners participate. It is my second time running. I really made sure I conditioned my body well so that I can finish the race. I want to outdo my performance last year and I’m glad I did.

Thousands of participants from different parts of CARAGA flock to J.C. Aquino Avenue. The start of the race is between Fr. Saturnino Urios University and St. Joseph Cathedral.  Runners in different categories are very much represented and made the event a success. Milo Marathon aims to make the country a “Champion Nation” through building champions. There advocacy is to help those less fortunate children to own a pair of shoes that can help them achieve their dream.

It is one of the main reasons why I joined the marathon, but my main motivation is to be fit and healthy. I made running an avenue to lose weight. I was so excited when finally Milo put their tarpaulin in different places in Butuan City announcing the race. I made sure I registered early to get my number and singlet. I heard that a lot was not able to join because the organizers run out of uniform and number. In the day of marathon, employees, students and from all walks of life waited at the starting line before the running shot was heard. And we run,  I personally run for 5k. It was long but very fulfilling. I am so glad that I was able to finish the race. For me, it is an accomplishment. I may not able to get a medal but finishing the race is a medal for me.

Here are the photos I collected before and after the race.
